Group NameLive in Socal? What to get into whitewater kayaking?
DescriptionI got into whitewater kayaking a few years ago and fell in love with the sport. The Kern River which is only a few hours outside of LA has some great kayaking runs. It is such a blast and so accessible that I'm surprised that so few people in SoCal do it.

I want to create this group to get more people in the area into the sport. Kayaking season usually run from late spring to late summer (depending on the river). However, if you are a beginner, there is a lot of preparatory work that could be done before you get on the river. If I could get enough people interested I could set up a pool session before the season starts to help beginners with their roles and paddling techniques. My goal is to get a small group of people to make regular trip to the Kern River next season.

If you are an experience kayaker and would like to help out, please sign up as well. I could use all the help I could get.

I don't want to break any rules here, but thought this might be a good place to spread the word about a Swiftwater Rescue course we are doing in Kernville on April 30 and May 1. This course is designed for boaters. You can get more info at www....
