Anybody have a shop they like in the L.A. area for snowboard waxing and tuning? I usually get the work done up at Mammoth, but need a local venue this time.

Thanks!

P.S. Yes, I should learn to do it myself.

You might want to try Doc's Ski Haus in Santa Monica.  They are a little more expensive than a typical shop, but they do a GREAT job and if you ask for it they will dial in the tune for the conditions at the particular mountain you're planning on boarding/skiing.

How much do they charge? I just took Ken's tuning clinic. Once I got all the tools I can do it for you free if you are willing to drive up here

Well, Sung, aren't you a doll! Careful, I'll take you up on that offer.

Cost? Hmm. Last time I had it done professionally, it "cost" me a pack of beer (slow day, shop boss was out, tuner-guy was bored, etc.) But upwards of 40 clams, I think.

So, what's your favorite brew?

I am going up to Mammoth this weekend. I will try to buy tuning tools after that (they are cheap). We'll talk about favorite brew after that

Pretty sure REI Manhattan Beach has a shop (call to make sure). Price should be $30 for a member with a 3 day turnaround.

Doc's will run you about 50 bones, or depending on where you live a couple of other options would be Sport Chalet or Chick's Sporting Goods (they both run about 35 clams).

Tonight I bought a very complete set of tuning tools. I have "everything" for ski/board tuning including a lovely iron. Got tuning blues? Think you are paying too much? Stay tuned!
