Event Description

We were rained out Jan 8/9, so were headin' back in Jan 22/23.  We'll be working in the vicinity of a known beaver dam, as well as red-legged frog and arroyo toad habitats, restoring oak woodland in a new day-use area of the Santa Barbara back country.  We will be planting oak seedlings and acorns on Saturday, and removing non-native, invasive plant species on Sunday.

We will hike and play in the afternoons, looking for active beaver at the dam (wonder how their house made out in these rains?!) and other uncommon wildlife in the area.  We will enjoy a warm fire on Saturday night along with our legendary stir fry dinner.  Meet us Saturday morning at 9:30 am near the worksite, about 13 miles up San Marcos Pass (Hwy. 154) from the city of Santa Barbara.  All you need is your camping gear, warm clothes and sturdy shoes.  This project is limited to 20 people total (from this list and others), first come first served.  But there were only 17 last time, so there will probably be plenty of space.
