Event Name Mt. Woodson via Lake Poway Part 2
Event Date/Time 1/16/2005 from N/A to N/A
Location in SAN DIEGO, CA
Event Type Backpacking, Hiking, Camping
Event Description

Lets see if we can try this hike again, hopefully with clear skies this time. This is a seven mile round trip hike to the summit of Mt. Woodson, with an elevation gain/ loss of 2300'. There are some steep and narrow sections (and probably muddy), so I have labeled this an intermediate hike. We can meet in the Lake Poway parking lot by the little snack shop at 9 am and hit the trail by 915am.

From I15 north or south get off on Rancho Bernardo Rd and head east. Rancho Bernardo Rd turns into Espola Rd as it curves to the south. Make a left turn (go east) on Lake Poway Rd. I will be driving a charcoal grey Ford Escape.

According to the Lake Poway website, parking is $4.00. But last Sunday we didn't have to pay for parking, so I don't want to say either way. For those brave enough souls to stand on Potato Chip Rock, I will bring my camera for pictures. Bring a snack for the summit and enough water to last between 4 and 5 hours, depending how fast or slow we hike. We can go for lunch or ice cream afterwards if people are interested, I'm open for suggestions.

As of now the forecast is for partly cloudy skies and no rain,  but it's still suppose to be in the low 60's so dress accordingly. Also, wear shoes with good traction as there are some rocky sections.

Please feel free to email me with any questions. Lets hope for clear skies and a good day of hiking.
