Event Description

Sunday a.m. update: I hate to cancel but it appears that there is no hope.  Ironically, I cancelled yesterday's (Sat) ride because this rain was supposed to happen on Saturday and Saturday was completely dry.  I ended up doing my ride all by my lonesome self.  I would like to trake this moment to promote my Saturday, January 22 ride.  Please come if you can.  See you next week, ojala.

Friday P.M. update: Sweet mother of God!  What is that falling out of the sky?  I still believe that on Sunday, at 2:00 pm, the clouds are going to part and the sun will shine through.  I am, however, definitely changing this to a  bike path ride.  Even if it's slightly raining, we should still do it.  Please sign up so I can e-mail/call you on Sunday a.m. if it's a true no go.

Thursday eve update: Yikes! the weather report is looking bad for mountain biking.  But there is still hope that the rain will peter out on Sunday.  If it rains a lot on Friday and Saturday but not on Sunday then let's ride the Cook's Corner to Aliso and back  bike path.  It's still a good 2 hour ride at least.

We did this ride on January 2 and had a blast.  Hopefully we can do it again.  Sorry for the repeat location but this is the only "legal"  shortish trail that I know of. Even so, if it rains significantly anytime after 2:00 pm on Friday, then this Sunday ride will probably not be happening.  I don't have the ability to receive email outside of work but I can send it.  Therefore, please sign up so I can communicate with you.

We'll leave from Cook's Corner, up Santiago Trail to the Luge.  We'll  return via the Luge; a total of 6.5 miles. The road from Cook's Corner to the Luge (5.5 miles) is not too technical so beginners are welcome to come along and turn around if they've had enough. The Luge itself is in pretty good shape.  Anyone with 3 or more mountain bike rides under their belt should be able to ride it.

Meet at Cook's Corner at the Live Oak Canyon Road parking area (facing the bar, to your right) at 2:15, ride at 2:30 pm.  Afterwards, beer!, onion rings!, french fries!, tall tales!, in that order.

From North Orange County: 55 to Chapman (in Orange) going East. Stay on Chapman as it becomes Santiago Canyon at the Jamboree intersection. 12 miles from Jamboree is Cook's Corner where Live Oak Canyon intersects with Santiago. Just look for a lot of motorcycles, like a million or so. Turn left on Live Oak and park.

From South Orange County take 5 to the El Toro Road exit, go North about 7 miles to Live Oak Canyon Road intersection, turn right and park next to the biker bar.
