SHERWOOD’S SENTINELS “exploratory”
Since this event, posted for August 15th, has a waiting list now, I would like to offer a shorter evening version to the group for Friday August 6th. This evening version should offer interesting views of the lake as the sun starts to set.
I intend to take on the sentinels of Lake Sherwood for a bird’s eye view of the lake. Earlier this month Camille and I took on the one peak overlooking this beautiful lake and we intend to take on the other if time permits. You’ll see this lake like you’ve never seen it before from a spectacular rock outcropping overlooking the lake. We will be following animal trails to the top which are steep at times. This trek will require some class 3 rock climbing and bush whacking. If you’re afraid of heights, not looking for a challenge or concerned about the slight possibility of coming out in the dark, then this is not for you.
MEET UP LOCATION: Take Westlake Blvd. exit off the 101 Fwy. in Westlake Village and head south 1.5 miles and turn right on Potrero Rd. to the 1400 block (400 yards from the signal on the parallel side road). See the following map:
START TIME: No later than 6:00 p.m.
BACK TO THE CARS: 8:30 p.m.
DISTANCE COVERED: less than 3 miles
ELEVATION GAIN: less than 1000 feet
TERRAIN: rugged and steep
SUGGESTIONS: Bring gloves, trekking poles, flashlight and protective clothing.
This event is cross posted with FUN IN THE SUN meet-up group from which Camille will be joining us.
