This is one of my favorite hikes! Extremely scenic as it circumnavigates between two of the best view points above Idyllwild and the SJ range. I'm eager to get this while we still have the daylight and weather.

We start at Humber Park, hike up Devil's Slide and to Taquitz Peak, then come down and around to Strawberry Junction, out to Suicide Rock, and finally down via Deer Springs Trail. Total gain approx 4000 ft  and distance approx 18 miles .

We will hike at a brisk pace so strong hiking experience is required to sign up. Plan on 8 hours start to finish. We will take a short break at the junction above Devil's Slide, and extended breaks at Taquitz Peak and Suicide Rock, with brief stops at some junctions as needed. This hike does not have a mid-point, so please plan your food supply accordingly - things you can snack on along the way, since the major breaks will come early and late in the hike. I've done this hike 2x before, and the group generally spends the most time at Suicide Rock since it's such a nice view and place to relax. But again, it is later in the day, and less then 1-1/2 hours from the finish.

Meet at the Idyllwild Ranger Station (address below) at 7:30am where I'll sumbit the permit and arrange the car shuttles. We should be hiking by 8:00am.  ADVENTURE PASS REQUIRED FOR PARKING AT HUMBER PARK.

Please bring 3 liters of water, and I also recommend Gatorade or some other electrolyte. The current weather forecast is mid-70s.
