Trip Report
This was an amazingly beautiful hike. The flowers were great, the geology was great, the group was great, the weather was great. What can I say! The most amazing thing was that there were no no-shows! Everybody showed up. And, we even had one extra person. :)
Event Information
Event Name RAINBOW Canyon Hike- Anza Borrego Desert
Event Date/Time 3/21/2009 from N/A to N/A
Location in SAN DIEGO, CA
Event Type Backpacking, Hiking, Camping
Event Description

Let's do another beautiful hike in Anza Borrego Desert State Park.  The wildflowers and cactus flowers should be reaching their peak in this interesting canyon which also contains some fascinating geology with short dry falls and swirling layers of colored rock (thus the name Rainbow).  It is not a hard or long hike, but, I am calling it intermediate because there is some climbing involved, using your hands and feet and not for beginners.  The hike is around 5 miles cross country with a view at the top.

Bring:  Boots, plenty of water, lunch, hat

Carpool:  Meet at 8:30 AM at the Los Coches Rd. Park and Ride off of I-8, east of El Cajon.  We should be back by 4 or 5 PM.
