| Event Description |
Get out of the heat and join us for a nice hike in the mountains.
We will meet at the Nature Center at 10:00, take Hwy 243 north from the village. Park in the first parking lot on the right.
The hike is approx 2 miles and has great views.
The Deer Springs trail starts across the hwy from the parking lot. Initially, the trail climbs gently through open forst of manzanita and pine; it then switchbacks more steeply into the State Park. The trail is alternately sunny and shaded. In about 30 minutes, more or less, you'll come to a sdie trail to the right. About a hundred feet along the side trail is Viewpoint Rock. The hike can continue on farther to across Strawberry Valley to Lily Rock or up to Tahquitz Peak.
For those a little less adventurous there is a shorter hike close to the Nature Center that is approx one mile long. Depending on the group, we may break into two groups, depending on how long a hike each person wants to take. |
