PLEASANT VIEW RIDGE
This event is a go, since the national forests are once again open.
The TRI PEAKS "exploratory route", which I have cancelled for 11/11/2007, will be rescheduled.
Join me on this event as we honor those Air Force Veterans who lost their life’s in a C119 crash on Pleasant View Ridge back in 1966.
This all day trek is for those of you who are looking for something a lot more challenging than the average outing. Although it’s only 10.5 miles, you will have felt you had hiked 14 miles or more. We will check out the remains of the C119 plane crash during this trek. No beginners please unless you’re in top physical condition. Cross country hiking experience would help for this hike.
Go to the web site below and check out the pictures from last years hike into this area.

We will be setting an easy pace with several breaks while staying together all the way so as not to lose anyone on this trek.
DIRECTIONS & TIME: From the 210 Fwy, exit at Angeles Crest Hwy and drive north about a quarter mile to just past Milmada Dr, then park alongside the road. We'll all meet here (See web-site below for map) no later than 7:00 a.m. and car shuttle to Buckhorn Campground and Islip Saddle.

START: Islip Saddle Parking Area (6670’) is where we will begin hiking on the trail to Mt. Williamson.
1st Peak: MT. Williamson at 8214 ft. is the second highest peak north of highway 2 in the San Gabriel Mountains.
The Ridge: Pleasant View Ridge, the highlight of this adventure, at 8000’ is a trail less trek between Mt. Williamson and Pallett Mountain and offers continuous views over desert and high mountain country.
2nd Peak: Pallett Mountain at 7800’ will offer a great view for a lunch break.
Saddle: Burkhart Saddle at 6959’ is where we will complete the trail less trek portion of this hike and pick up the Burkhart Trail for the hike down into Little Rock Creek.
The Creek: Little Rock Creek is a desert bound creek fed by the springs high in the granite folds of Mt. Williamson. We will cross this beautiful creek at its 5640’ elevation point.
FINISH: We will end up at the Burkhart trailhead in Buckhorn Campground (6470’) where some of our cars had been dropped off earlier in the day. We will shuttle everyone from here to Islip Saddle to pick up the remaining cars.
AN ADVENTURE PASS IS REQUIRED – FOR YOUR VEHICLE IF PARKED AT BUCKHORN CAMPGROUND OR ISLIP SADDLE
IT WILL BE COLD IN THE MORNING. BRING A LUNCH AND PLENTY OF WATER.
