“Ladies Only” trips that I lead will be designated by WMW = Women Mentoring Women 

WMW strives to create a safe and comfortable environment for women to learn a new sport without the needless anxiety of compromising one’s self in order to attain fresh knowledge and skills.

The first activity is BACKPACKING.  So many of you leave the men in the dust on the day hikes. Kudos to you! Now it’s time for the next progression…day hike out, spend the night and day hike back.  For one reason or another, you have not taken this next step of pure independence and enjoyment. Your time has come!

The trip groups will be kept to 8 participants (4 mentors & 4 first timers). Basic knowledge of what to bring and what to expect will be worked out on a one-to-one basis, one mentor-to-one first timer.  Gear sharing is expected, so First Timers don’t worry if you lack equipment. Talk to your mentor before you run out to REI or A16 and waste your money. 

Expected timing and location of the trip: Friday (take a vacation day?)/Saturday/Sunday.  Two trip dates: July 21 - 23 and Aug 4 - 6. Trip locations will be determined by the current fitness level and elevation preference of the participants. Mentors will meet on June 27 to determine the trip groups. Based on the current number of mentors, we anticipate 3 trips on each date. A different location will be selected for each group.
